West Village Nursery School is a non-profit cooperative nursery school, licensed by the New York City Department of Health and chartered by the Board of Regents of the State of New York. WVNS is a member of the Parents League, the Downtown Early Childhood Association (DECA), and the Independent School Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY). We follow ISAAGNY's admissions calendar and policies.

We seek a diverse population in our school community and actively encourage applications from families of all backgrounds. Every kind of family constellation is welcomed and treated with respect. Owned and run by its membership, the aim of WVNS is to offer high-quality, low-tuition preschool education to the children of the community.

However, if you are interested in our 4's program please email to admissions@westvillagenurseryschool.org to receive an application form. We still have few interviewing slots available for our 4's applicant families.

HOW TO APPLY

There are 3 ways to get Application information during Admissions season:
  1. Call Admissions office to receive Application information in the mail. Admissions office number is 646-330-1083.

We will start accepting applications for 2010-2011 school year on September 24, 2009 with an estimated deadline of November 24, 2009. The school will stop accepting applications prior to November 24th if a point is reached at which school tours and interviews can no longer be conveniently scheduled.

AGE POLICY

To determine which class your child would be applying for in the 2010-2011 school year, please use these guidelines:
If your child was born by December 31st of:
2008: apply for the 2’s program
2007: apply for the 3's program
2006: apply for the 4's program

TOURS AND INTERVIEWS

For families applying to the …
  • 2s program: Once your application and $45 application fee is received, a tour and parent interview will be scheduled. No child visits are scheduled for children applying to the 2’s program.

  • 3s program: Applications will be placed in a wait pool. There is NO FEE to be in the wait pool. However, if an opening in the 3’s class occurs, we will contact you to schedule a tour, parent interview and child visit. At that time the $45 application fee will be due.

  • 4s program: Once your application and $45 application fee are received, a tour, parent interview and child visit will be scheduled.

EARLY NOTIFICATION PROGRAM

Is available for siblings of WVNS students.

2’s program: $3,500
3’s program: $9,920
4’s program: $11,500

  1. How do I receive an application from WVNS?

  2. There are 3 ways to receive an application. You can (1) download the application form from the website, (2) fill in the inquiry form to request an application to be sent to you in the mail, (3) call our admissions office to receive an application form in the mail.

  3. When will WVNS begin accepting applications for the 2010 – 2011 school year?

  4. WVNS will begin accepting applications on September 24th 2009 for the 2010-2011 school year.

  5. What happens with applications that are put on a wait list because

  6. (1) interview slots are full (2) there are no openings in the class?

    (1) Interview cancellations often occur and when they do we go to our wait list.
    (2) This usually applies to our 3’s class. If an opening occurs, we will contact a family from our wait list for the 3’s class.

  7. What are the birthdays cut off dates?

  8. For 2’s program child has to be born in 2008.
    For 3’s program child has to be born in 2007.
    For 4’s program child has to be born in 2006.

  9. Is there an Early Notification Program? If yes, who is eligible?

  10. There is an Early Notification Program. Only the siblings of WVNS students are eligible.

  11. How does the wait list work?

  12. Students who have been waitlisted at WVNS can remain on the wait list until the next school year begins if the family has not signed a contract with another ISAAGNY school. If a space becomes available during this period, someone from the Admissions office will contact you.

    3’s class – 15 children
    4’s class – 17 children
